CentOS 7 is reaching end of life, what do I do?

CentOS 7 reaches its EOL on June 2024, and we strongly recommend you to upgrade instances with this version to a newer operating system.

Not upgrading your system will mean your server will be vulnerable as CentOS 7 will not longer be supported or receive security updates. 

Depending on whether you use CentOS 7 with Plesk, cPanel or neither Plesk or cPanel our recommendations for upgrading from CentOS 7 are slightly different. Below you can find how we recommend you upgrade your server based on these options.

Which Operating System do I upgrade to if I'm using CentOS 7 without cPanel or Plesk?

Our recommendation if your're using CentOS 7 without cPanel or Plesk is that you perform an upgrade to Alma Linux 9.

Which Operating System do I upgrade to if I'm using CentOS 7 with cPanel?

If you're using CentOS 7 with cPanel We strongly recommend migrating to a operating system that support cPanel to ensure long-term security and stability. You can find a list of operating systems that support cPanel here. 

You can use the ELevate tool to upgrade directly from CentOS 7 to Alma Linux 8.
