Can I Setup Mining on My Server?

Mining of any kind requires a lot of computing power, therefore mining is not possible on Contabo Virtual Private Servers (VPS). This is because VPS work on a shared resource basis, so if a VPS were to execute a mining function, it would consume too much processing power and affect other users.

Contabo's Dedicated Servers offer high capacity and CPU power that can handle mining.

A direct upgrade from a VPS to a VDS is not available. If you want to move to a VDS, you'll need to follow a manual process:

1. Order a new VDS with the desired specifications.
2. Migrate your data manually from the old VPS to the new VDS.
3. Cancel the original VPS once the migration is complete.

Because this involves provisioning a new server, the IP address will change. Any services or DNS records pointing to your old IP address will need to be updated manually. (See How to make changes to your VPS or VDS plan)
