What is a Private Network?
A Private Network allows you to connect multiple servers internally using a dedicated network interface. Servers within the same private network can communicate securely without exposing traffic to the public internet.
How to create a Private Network
Before you begin: To create a Private Network, you must first purchase the Private Network Add-On for your server.
- Log in to the Customer Panel at new.contabo.com.
- Go to Network Services → Private Networking.
- Click Create new Private Network.
- Select the servers you want to add to the private network by ticking the corresponding checkboxes.
- Click Continue.
- Enter a name for your Private Network. You can optionally add a description.
- Click Confirm.
Your Private Network will now appear in the Private Networking overview in the Customer Panel.
Final step: Activate the network connection
After creating the Private Network, each selected server must either be restarted or reinstalled to become fully connected.
In the Private Networking section, open your network and check the status next to each server. You will see one of the following messages:
- Requires restart
- Requires reinstallation
Follow the indicated action to complete the setup and activate the private network connection.
